the rules
out of character
general;
- be nice to others; don't purposely start fights with other members.
- please refrain from topics such as religion, sex, politics or other controversial subjects that tend to start arguments.
- swearing is okay, but please, don't swear at anyone. also, please don't overuse this.
- please be appropriate. this is an intermediate site, so if you have the maturity to do such, we expect you to have the maturity to behave responsibly out of character as well.
signatures;
- particularly for images, signatures cannot be more than 500x500 pixels. anything more should have a "button," or a smaller image that redirects to that. the code for such is: [*url=url of image link here][*img]button url here[*/img][*/url] without the asterisks.
- please don't use blinding colors in your signature. any extreme yellows, reds, greens, etc. will be removed by staff.
- please, as well, do not contain images related to sex, religion, or politics in your signature.
characters;
- every user should have one account with all of their characters on it.
- characters can either be ACUMEN or ENMITY, these are species. please, under breed, do not put thoroughbred, or arabian, or whatever. please put enmity or acumen.
- a single user can have as many characters as they can keep active. keeping a character active means having them post AT LEAST once a week. which means, if you have six characters, expect to be posting six posts a week, with at least one PER CHARACTER.
- please, if your character has a child and you cannot play them, or the other parent's player cannot play them, put them up for adoption. we like to have our children active around catharsis. don't let them rot away in inactivity.
in character
general;
- swearing is allowed ic as well, and we're a bit more lenient with the level of cursing.
- just because someone's character doesn't like yours, doesn't mean that the player hates you. please understand this. i don't want people coming to me saying so and so's stallion won't let my mare in their herd, they're being mean to me!.
- likewise, your character doesn't have to like anyone at all. we encourage a few healthy rivalries amongst equine.
breeding/foaling;
- breeding an foaling is NOT to be roleplayed out! if we find anything graphic, we will ban you. plain and simple.
- there will be areas specifically for breeding and foaling. for breeding, please post something along the lines of "bob and sue have bred" or whatever floats your boat. for foaling, post bob and sue's stats, and a staff member will give you your foal stats.
- breeding and foaling should take place in season (breeding: winter and summer, foaling: spring and autumn) in the appropriate boards. anything else will result in a stillborn.
- stallions can breed to THREE mares per season. we don't suggest you breed your stallion to three mares every season. if you want to, go ahead, as long as you have enough people to play the babies, however.
- sometimes, your character might have twins.
- please do not request foal stats, unless you present staff with a legitimate plot that requires these stats. if you ask, and don't have a good reason, we will either give you the complete opposite, or a stillborn.
unions, ganglands;
- catharsis presents a new concept: gangs. there are no lights, darks, loners, or whatever in catharsis. there are merely equine who are trying to survive the power struggle. this encourages a multitude of personalities; is your character just trying to get by?, are they power hungry?, are they really softies on the inside, forced to do others' bidding?. we encourage groups of individuals to reside together through this technique.
- however, if your character doesn't want to be stuck with the hounds, then they can join a union. there are very few unions in comparison to gangs, but they are full of horses who dislike the gangs very much, typically acumen. enmity who try to join a union, however, may be sold to a gang - so watch out.
- gangs have a strict hierarchy. a typical gang consists of one or two acumen, one of which leads and the other might just assist with keeping order. only one acumen can actually lead a gang, however, and can be either mare or stallion.
- gangs are usually populated by enmity who have been enslaved by the acumen and forced to fight. there really isn't much choice for them, unless they challenge the acumen's power over them. this is a bad idea, and we do not suggest it.
well, if you've made it all the way down here, congratulations! you have finished reading dollie's huge list of rules, and we applaud you by giving you a huge chocolate chip cookie and allowing you to parade around catharsis without feeling like an idiot xD. thank you for reading all of these rules; your experience on catharsis will be better because of it. however, if you still have any questions, or need something cleared up better, please pm a staff member so we can see to your better understanding of it, and perhaps fix our mistake so that other people don't share the same confusion.
thank you, and welcome to catharsis theory.
